The Hardman Centre, Methodist Community Care, is a registered charity, established in 1974, to create a facility for older people to access practical services and address isolation. Situated on Dryden Road, Low Fell, Gateshead, and open from 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. The Hardman Centre provides a day centre for the elderly people living in the Borough of Gateshead and approximately 145 people attend each week. Transport is available, via our own mini buses. A two course lunch, cooked on our premises and refreshments are provided each day. There are a variety of activities available, including, carpet bowls, board games, cards, bingo and on occasions there are visiting speakers and entertainers. Outings to places of interest and the theatre are arranged. As well as the activities available, the Hardman Centre can be a place to relax and have a chat with our staff and visitors, making a welcome change from being at home, sometimes on our own. Referrals can be made via social workers, doctors, carers/families or yourself. The daily cost is £7, this includes, transport from your home, lunch and refreshments. The staff and volunteers are here to help you enjoy your time at the Hardman Centre, were you will find friendship and companionship as well as enjoying lunch, refreshments, activities and a warm welcome. The Hardman Centre Pre-School. We are an OFSTED registered Pre-School, with fully trained and experienced staff, our inspection reports are available at www.ofsted.gov.uk We follow and use the foundation stage guidance, published by the DFES (Department for Education and Skills). Our setting aims to: Provide high quality care and education for children, primarily below statutory school age; Work in partnership with parents to help children learn and develop; Add to the life and well-being of its local community, and Offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values. We aim to ensure that each child: Is in a safe and stimulating environment; Is given generous care and attention, because of our ratio of qualified staff to children. Has the chance to join with other children and adults to live, play, work and learn together; Is helped to take forward her/his learning and development by being helped to build on what she/he already knows and can do; Has a personal keyworker who makes sure each child makes satisfying progress; Is in a setting that sees parents as partners in helping each child to learn and develop. We take children from age 3-5 years. Children are government funded the term after their 3rd birthday. We operate a waiting list system.
